Jake Savala's Priorities

COMPASSION AND ACCOUNTABILITY CAN EXIST TOGETHER.
Jake has spent years serving those experiencing homelessness. Through his many experiences communicating directly with our fellow neighbors he recognizes a common theme, that the government has repeatedly failed them and we can do better to get them on the right path to success!
Colorado Springs has spent years discussing homelessness.
Jake believes residents deserve solutions that produce measurable results.
People experiencing homelessness are individuals, not statistics.
Some need mental health treatment.
Some need addiction recovery.
Some need temporary assistance and a path back to stable employment and housing.
And some create serious public safety problems that cannot simply be ignored.
Jake rejects the idea that compassion requires neighborhoods to tolerate dangerous or destructive behavior.
He also rejects the idea that every person experiencing homelessness should be treated like a criminal.
The solution is to bring together organizations that know the population, identify approaches that actually work and hold programs accountable for results.
