Jake knows that local government has an obligation to respect constitutional rights and treat you fairly.
That principle applies whether an issue is politically popular or politically difficult.
SECOND AMENDMENT
Jake is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and the individual right to keep and bear arms.
He opposes unnecessary local restrictions on law-abiding gun owners and will evaluate city policies through the lens of constitutional protections.
Jake also has personal experience successfully challenging a Red Flag proceeding, giving him firsthand understanding of the importance of due process when government seeks to restrict an individual's rights.
DUE PROCESS
Government should never be able to deprive someone of rights simply because doing so is convenient.
Jake believes citizens deserve notice, evidence, a meaningful opportunity to be heard and a fair process before government takes serious action against them.
Those principles shouldn't depend on politics.
They are fundamental to equal justice.
MEDICAL FREEDOM
Jake's experience during the COVID-19 response strengthened his belief that major health and employment decisions deserve transparency, informed consent and respect for individual rights.
He believes government should be extremely cautious about mandates that place individuals' livelihoods or personal medical decisions in conflict with government policy.
